verify DCP

Post by dvdgrdnr »

hi
i've just made my first DCP via DCP-o-Matic and want to test it. I see on the manual it says i can go to Tools > Verify DCP, but there's no option for this on mine. Has DCP-o-M removed this feature since the manual was made, or am i doing something wrong?
i'm using DCP o matic 2 on a macbook pro.

At the moment this is only in the DCP-o-matic player... start that, load your DCP and you should see the option in Tools.

The player is a separate download for macOS.

This looks like it's branched out into a seperate utility at least on the Windows install. Thanks Carl!

I do have a request for this new utility, could you add the ability to scan an entire directory? Say we have 20 DCPs in a directory, is there any way to have it scan the entire thing instead of picking one by one? That would help out big time when dealing with short film packages etc.

Thanks!!

There is an entry for that on mantis, already:

Now dom in windows has a nice feature just to check dcps. It would be even better if we could batch verify dcps

Well, it now does, if you haven't yet noticed.
A big thank you from my part!
I opened a folder where the subfolder was full of test patterns and I was rejoiced to find all of them populate the list automatically.
I had a bit of a hard time to remove half of them, I had to do it one by one, but no complaints here! :D
And then, when I exported the verification report, the CPL content title and UUID made everything crystal clear!

I had an issue opening a whole internal drive,

Code: Select all

An exception occured: boost::filesystem::directory_iterator::construct:
Access is denied [system:5]:
"D:\$RECY...\S-#-#-##-###########-##########-##########-1001"
(D:\$RECY...\S-#-#-##-###########-##########-##########-1001)
()
(Where #, read digits. Numbers, that is, not fingers.)

But I didn't have any issue opening a whole external drive.

Kudos, Carl and team!

Glad you like it! 2.18.13 should be more robust when it sees directories it can't scan.

It's a great tool, if you have a whole drive of DCPs and other material to check out. Print traffic staff and projectionists would take good advantage of that, I am sure.
And I am glad that the --no-picture-details-check option is there on CLI as well.
I do have ideas, but I suppose it's best to ask for extras on Mantis, so things will be classified according to priority and feasibility.
I will probably go with "each thing on a separate proposal" for that reason.

Perfect, yes Mantis is best for that, and 1 idea per ticket is definitely easiest.
