I'm new in this field, but I have a question on your program. I need to convert an MP4 to a DPC file for a cinema introduction, so I have downloaded this tool. i made the "conversion" at an 14,17 average fpses (I'm on a Mac Mini M2).
What I am wondering: is it normal that the J2C.MXF file in the dpc folder is laggy (opened with vlc)?

VLC can not play these files at proper frame rate. You should download DCP-o-matic player and test the full DCP. Playing back just the MXF is not a valid quality check.
Depending on the DCP parameters and your machines performance, you may need to set the player to use half or quarter resolution for playback. This will enable a smoother playback.
