Lost cinemas.xml data - SOLVED

Post by Aswippe Johnson »

I copied and transferred the cinemas.xml and config.xml files from my desktop DoM v2.7.1 to my laptop DoM v2.8. The config.xml seems okay on the laptop, as all my new DKDMs are showing up.... but I have lost ALL of the cinemas info - the window is blank. When I replaced the laptop's original cinemas.xml file... it, too, is now blank (not within the .xml file itself, but nothing is showing in the KDM Creator window).

What did I do wrong?

Maybe format change between 2.71 and 2.8?

How will I ever be able to upgrade without having to re-enter everything manually? I have a growing list of cinemas.

We need to wait for Carl to comment on this. Basically, with an XML file structure, there should be a chance for no compatibility issues between updated database versions. Maybe there is another reason for what you experienced.

Can you send the "cinemas.xml" file to me? (carl@dcpomatic.com)

Sorry I lost track of this. It's strange because if I use your bucinemas.xml with DCP-o-matic 2.8.0 or 2.9.x on Windows the cinemas load fine. Can I just check: is that the file that doesn't load for you?

Once I tried to load the updated file and it didn't work, I tried to switch back to the original file I had backed up, and it no longer worked. So now, neither xml file works for me.
