Hi!
DCP-o-matic is great!
I noticed that there is no option to encode to 2048x1080.
Is there a reason for this?
Thanks!

Hi there,
You should be able to do that if you choose "Full Frame" for "Container" in the "Video" tab of the DCP page.
Cheers, Carl

Hi again,
Got it! Thanks!
A friend's short movie is 2048 px wide and asked me to help him do a conversion.
I told him that it is not widely accepted (based on the wikipedia entry).
Is that still true or has it changed?
Sorry for the late reply.

What ratio is your friend's short? Full container 2048x1080 is not very commonly distributed so far as I know.

It was shot on Alexa at 2048x1156 so he wanted to keep the 2048 width.
We did the DCP with the flat container, to be safe.

It's 16:9 then. It should be cropped or downscaled to flat (1998x1080) with pillarbox if you wanna keep the same aspect ratio.
2048x1152 is only better than 1080p if you are recording cinemascope (2.39) and need 2048x858 extraction. Otherwise, it's better to record at 1080p without this small downscale. 16:9 in 2K DCP container (flat) is actually 1920x1080.
