Content type 'Pattern'

Post by Stephen Furley »

Our Doremi server has a content type of 'pattern'. At the moment the only content we have of this type are three different versions of black, two of which are 3D, and so of no use to us. the 2D one does work, and the length of time to play it is specified when it is added to a show playlist. I am guessing that a pattern is simply a single still image; is this correct? If so it could be useful, since the time for which it is displayed can be changed without having to re-make the DCP. However, unless I'm missing something, DCP-o-Matic does not seem to support making this content type Is it possible?

Some servers have 'internal' functions for certain types of content. However, these are usually no common DCP types, but server specific. A very common type is 'black'. You don't want to have many different 'black' DCPs of different lenghts in your library to choose from, so there is a function for it that allows to enter a length. These types of content can not be generated externally, they are server specific.

A Doremi shows different types of content/cues/functions in the same library, but techwise, they are not the same. Some are DCPs/CPLs, some are cues, some are stored playlists, etc.

The only thing a program like DCP-o-matic can do is to create DCPs, and assign ISDCF content type designators. But internally, they are all 'just' DCPs.
