Having just installed the newest version of DCP-O-Matic I've ru intot he problem of the program itself not actually opening. When running the OSX security check as it is from an unknown developer it freezes on this status bar. It doesn't make a difference if I set it to allow programs from anyone. I've reverted to the previous version for now. Don't know if anybody else has had the same problem.
OSX El Capitan 10.11.3

I can only say 2.70 and 2.71 opens without issues on 10.6.8, but that is of course very different from your OS version...

Which "status bar" is it freezing on? Can you maybe give us a screenshot?

It gets caught on the "Verifying" status bar when apple is running security checks for an unknown developer.
When allowing the program to run it will come up with the verifying status bar, will hang for a few minutes, then the message pops up again saying that the program is from an unknown developer and just gets caught in a loop.

I haven't seen this happen before, but there is some discussion here; perhaps you could try
cd /Applications
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine DCP-o-matic\ 2.app
from a terminal to tell OS X that DCP-o-matic is OK.

I have upgraded to the 2.7.1 and it seems to be working fine now. Haven't seen that issue before either, will keep an eye on it.
Cheers
