Hello,
normally I do not have problems when converting with dcp-o-matic.
I am invited to perform in Shanghai and I have sent a sample of my movie using all the settings where the DCPs are working well.
I got the answer from the Filmmuseum Shanghai, that the picture was too narrow.
They said:
picture too narrow
using Christie
cannot change the format
screen format 1,85 or 2,39
I really don´t know what to do - perhaps someone can help me, thanks!
Gerhard
My settings: its silent movie format from a DVD, using 4:3
on CONTENT using "scale to 4:3"
yadif Filter
on DCP using SMPTE
Container: Flat
framerate 24
2K
150 Mbit/s
Format problem, picture too narrow

Do they understand that your movie is in 4:3? Those settings should give a 4:3 image inside a flat frame, so there will obviously be some black at the sides if they mask for 1.85:1.

Re: Format problem, picture too narrow
Many thanks, Carl!
As they say the faces are narrow and small, I assume they must have some black stripes at both sides. What I do not understand is, why they get that small faces - I never experienced something like this.
I have a DCP-player on my Mac. When using there "default" I´m getting the normal width. When using 4:3, I get those small faces. But why should a Christie projector show small faces - they say their screen format is 1.85 or 2.39.
Thanks again
Gerhard

Maybe you could check whether they are playing the DCP using their "Flat" or "1.85:1" preset?

Could you send screenshots to them, could they send a picture of the screen back?
Please ask them for the precise Christie model number, and server type.

Re: Format problem, picture too narrow
Probably too simple to talk about it - I just converted the film Sample once more and it worked. Looking after the old file I saw that in the title of the file there was a "1.19" number, so obviously it was my own mistake by using the wrong DVD resolution in the content part.
Again a simple solution. Sorry, much ado about nothing ....
Anyway, thanks again for the great program!
