How can I make the DCP player faster?

Decoding JPEG2000 video data is computationally intensive, and DCP-o-matic does not (yet) have any GPU acceleration for this process. Here are some ways you can improve playback speed:

• Especially on macOS: go to the General tab of Preferences and choose ‘OpenGL (faster)’ for the ‘Video display mode’
• Choose ‘Decode at half resolution’ or ‘Decode at quarter resolution’ from the View menu.
• Use the most recent version of DCP-o-matic, as this usually includes the most code improvements and speed-ups.
